When I saw this picture, the only thing I could think of was: between a rock and a hard place. It seems stupid to me to put oneself in this position in the first place. Why? Adventure, thrill, or maybe just danger of it all. Some choices are hard, some are easy... here is an example of a "no brainer".
Joshua 24:15 (WEB)
15) If it seems evil to you to serve Yahweh, choose this day whom you will serve; whether the gods which your fathers served that were beyond the River, or the gods of the Amorites, in whose land you dwell: but as for me and my house, we will serve Yahweh.”
(Joshua 24:15, WEB)
Israel had been led 40 years in the wilderness and had rebelled at least 10 times. Moses, Aaron and Myriam had died. The promised land had been conquered (sort of) and now Israel was to enjoy the blessings of God in a land specifically prepared for them. Joshua gives them a choice and leads by example. What would you do? Duh! Learn from the mistakes of others and follow God. As far as the rock goes, choose not to step foot on it in the first place. Otherwise, choose which side you wish to go and GET OFF NOW!
