Just a picture of a cork board with a few plastic thumb-tacks in it, but somehow it says volumes. Who would be the sort of person to do this? Why would they do this? What would they hope to accomplish by doing this? What kind of message can we take away from this simple act? Good questions all!! I have no definitive answers, only conjecture. But, before I put in my "two cents", please take a moment to read the following verse from the old testament book of Ecclesiastes...
Ecclesiastes, chapter 3
Ecc 3:22 I have seen that nothing is better than that man should be happy in his activities, for that is his lot. For who will bring him to see what will occur after him?
First, the "author" of the sign was unconcerned with the form of the "smiley face" because if they were, then the tacks would have been equally spaced, with each color denoting a facial feature. Secondly, I think it was done to promote happiness. And lastly, we can seek out people who promote happiness and positive things in our lives, because they will bring us "UP" and not "down". Recently, my wife has gotten me hooked on the western series "Heartland" on the UP channel. And on that station Amy Grant keeps on repeating that we should do something that will bring others UP a bit. I think that wise king Solomon (who wrote Ecclesiastes) would agree!!! Today, feel free to bring someone up a notch today- and begin with YOURSELF!!!! Go to the mirror and just smile; if you can't, then find something that WILL MAKE YOU SMILE- then repeat until you are overjoyed. When this is accomplished, share it with someone else )!!! thumb-tacks are optional!!!
PS. Thank you Terri for this simple, yet meaningful jpeg!!! Keep them coming--- PPPLLLEEEAAASEEE!!!!!
