This picture is not really about cookies, is it? It is a reference to Schrodinger's cat. Remember, Schrodinger put a cat in a box with poison and until you opened the box and knew what had happened, the cat was both alive and dead at the same time.
Taking this a bit further, it's all about the unknown. If you were to know your future, would you still do the things that you knew were right, even though they would probably result in your death?
Unrealistic, you say. Nobody knows the future, or do they?

Acts, Chapter 21 (WEB)
7 When we had finished the voyage from Tyre, we arrived at Ptolemais. We greeted the brothers and stayed with them one day. 8 On the next day, we who were Paul’s companions departed, and came to Caesarea.
We entered into the house of Philip the evangelist, who was one of the seven, and stayed with him. 9 Now this man had four virgin daughters who prophesied. 10 As we stayed there some days, a certain prophet named Agabus came down from Judea. 11 Coming to us and taking Paul’s belt, he bound his own feet and hands, and said, “The Holy Spirit says: ‘So the Jews at Jerusalem will bind the man who owns this belt, and will deliver him into the hands of the Gentiles.’”
Paul had already committed himself to do God's will. He was ready and willing to do anything God desired. "The Lord's will be done" was the ultimate outcome and so it is for all faithful Christians.
Remember the end of the book of Revelation: we win, no matter what!!!
Schrodinger may speculate, but God makes the final determination. Follow God, not the god of science!!!
