A change of Shadow by Gary Rose

This picture reminded me of my afternoon walk with my dog, Pal. The sun was low in the sky and I saw my shadow. I thought: you know, it looks different than it did many years ago. Why? Well, over the years I have put on quite a bit of weight, so I tend to bulge somewhat around the midsection, that's why.

But, what is a shadow, anyway? Just a momentary reflection of light. Life is like a shadow, changing as the years roll by. James, the apostle of Jesus, says this...

James, Chapter 4 (WEB)
13 Come now, you who say, “Today or tomorrow let’s go into this city, and spend a year there, trade, and make a profit.”
14 Whereas you don’t know what your life will be like tomorrow. For what is your life? For you are a vapor that appears for a little time, and then vanishes away.
15 For you ought to say, “If the Lord wills, we will both live, and do this or that.”
16 But now you glory in your boasting. All such boasting is evil.
17 To him therefore who knows to do good, and doesn’t do it, to him it is sin.

We can't change our shadow, but we can change our attitude. As always, a good dose of humility couldn't hurt. For, we don't know what tomorrow may bring, so rely on God for what we never will be able to change. Your shadow may just be light, but its a good thing if you reflect upon your life now and what God may do in the future.
