Get Ready by Gary Rose

I wonder if that driver will get himself a paddle before he goes to "up the creek"?  As far as I can see, he is just going about his business, not thinking about the future and not bothering to get that paddle he will need once he gets to UP THE CREEK

Now, we have all heard the expression:Up the creek without a paddle. It references someone who is in a position of needing something to survive and its just not there. In a word- hopelessness!!!

Do not, I repeat, do not put yourself in a position of hopelessness! Be prepared, take care of everything you can, be ready for anything!! Remember the boy scouts...?

Boy Scout Oath or Promise

On my honor, I will do my best
To do my duty to God and my country and to obey the Scout Law;
To help other people at all times;
To keep myself physically strong, mentally awake and morally straight.

Note that the Boy Scout Oath has traditionally been considered to have three promises. Those three promises are delineated by the semicolons in the Oath, which divide it into three clauses. The three promises of the Scout Oath are, therefore:
  • Duty to God and country,
  • Duty to other people, and
  • Duty to self
DUTY TO GOD AND COUNTRY: Your family and religious leaders teach you to know and serve God. By following these teachings, you do your duty to God.
Men and women of the past worked to make America great, and many gave their lives for their country. By being a good family member and a good citizen, by working for your country's good and obeying its laws, you do your duty to your country. Obeying the Scout Law means living by its 12 points.
DUTY TO OTHER PEOPLE: Many people need help. A cheery smile and a helping hand make life easier for others. By doing a Good Turn daily and helping when you're needed, you prove yourself a Scout and do your part to make this a better world.
DUTY TO SELF: Keeping yourself physically strong means taking care of your body. Eat the right foods and build your strength. Staying mentally awake means learn all you can, be curious, and ask questions. Being morally straight means to live your life with honesty, to be clean in your speech and actions, and to be a person of strong character.

Boy Scout Law

A Scout is:
  • Trustworthy,
  • Loyal,
  • Helpful,
  • Friendly,
  • Courteous,
  • Kind,
  • Obedient,
  • Cheerful,
  • Thrifty,
  • Brave,
  • Clean,
  • and Reverent.

Boy Scout Motto

Be Prepared!           (emphasis added)

Boy Scout Slogan

Do a Good Turn Daily!

The Outdoor Code

As an American, I will do my best to -
  • Be clean in my outdoor manners
  • Be careful with fire
  • Be considerate in the outdoors, and
  • Be conservation minded.

I especially like that motto: BE PREPARED!!!

Fact is, you can make preparations for most anything, but what if you come across something you can't prepare for, something that no matter what you do, you can't make enough preparation for? Even though you become the very best "boy scout" that ever was, it still isn't enough? By now, you probably know where I am going so I will sum it up in a question: What can I do about the things I know (or perhaps don't even realize) that I have done wrong- Again to summarize, What about my sin?

Get ready to answer for your sin! On the last day, as you stand before God in the judgment, have a "paddle"!!!!

Hebrews, Chapter 5 (World English Bible)
1 For every high priest, being taken from among men, is appointed for men in things pertaining to God, that he may offer both gifts and sacrifices for sins.
2 The high priest can deal gently with those who are ignorant and going astray, because he himself is also surrounded with weakness.
3 Because of this, he must offer sacrifices for sins for the people, as well as for himself.
4 Nobody takes this honor on himself, but he is called by God, just like Aaron was.
5 So also Christ didn’t glorify himself to be made a high priest, but it was he who said to him,

“You are my Son. Today I have become your father.”

6 As he says also in another place,

“You are a priest forever, after the order of Melchizedek.”

7 He, in the days of his flesh, having offered up prayers and petitions with strong crying and tears to him who was able to save him from death, and having been heard for his godly fear,
8 though he was a Son, yet learned obedience by the things which he suffered.
9 Having been made perfect, he became to all of those who obey him the author of eternal salvation,
  10
named by God a high priest after the order of Melchizedek. (emphasis added vss. 5-10)

Yes, you guessed it, let Jesus be your "paddle"!!! Get ready, BE READY!!! Obey Jesus, submit to him as king in all that you do, follow him all your life and you will never be caught "up the creek without a paddle".

Some of you may ask: What do I do? Simply do what the first century Christians did- Acts, Chapter 2:14-42.

Get ready, stay ready and live on after this life is over!

Jesus is the Answer!!!
