Yesterday
morning I found myself singing this song to myself as I was taking my
dog pal for his morning walk. I thought of my eldest granddaughter
(for whom I wrote this song in 1989). When I had finished a few of
the stanzas, I stopped because I felt sad. You see, several years
ago, she joined a religious group that strongly discourages
association with anyone outside their fellowship. I haven’t heard
from her in a long time, neither has my wife, her mother and brothers
and sisters. I have never even seen our one and only great
granddaughter. Now, you understand why I felt sad.
The
Scriptures say…
John
3 (WEB)
16 For
God so loved the world, that he gave his one and only Son, that
whoever believes in him should not perish, but have eternal
life. 17 For
God didn’t send his Son into the world to judge the world, but that
the world should be saved through him. 18 He
who believes in him is not judged. He who doesn’t believe has been
judged already, because he has not believed in the name of the one
and only Son of God. (emphasis
added) 19 This
is the judgment, that the light has come into the world, and men
loved the darkness rather than the light; for their works were
evil. 20 For
everyone who does evil hates the light, and doesn’t come to the
light, lest his works would be exposed. 21 But
he who does the truth comes to the light, that his works may be
revealed, that they have been done in God.”
Human
being make choices. Choices have consequences. When it comes to
decisions about Jesus, there are eternal results. To this very day I
love my granddaughter very much, but she has made a terrible choice.
Since the group she is affiliated with does not accept the deity of
Jesus, she also has made a decision concerning the Savior. I pray
that she will come to her senses and acknowledge him for who HE
really is and be saved from whatever sin she may have committed.
Please pray for her.

Acts

Then
Peter, filled with the Holy Spirit, said to them, “You rulers of
the people, and elders of Israel, 9 if
we are examined today concerning a good deed done to a crippled man,
by what means this man has been healed, 10 be
it known to you all, and to all the people of Israel, that in the
name of Jesus Christ of Nazareth, whom you crucified, whom God raised
from the dead, in him does this man stand here before you
whole. 11 He
is ‘the stone which was regarded as worthless by you, the builders,
which has become the head of the corner.’ 12 There
is salvation in none other, for neither is there any other name under
heaven, that is given among men, by which we must be saved!”(emphasis
added)

Although I sang this song to the hymn “Jesus loves you” to my
granddaughter in 1989, it was not until 2011 that it was put into
music notation. Many thanks to Alan Mullins for helping me with
this!!!!
