This is a photo of
the “Glory Window”, located in a church somewhere out west. I can
almost imagine being there and seeing the light of the sun
illuminating all that colored glass. Beautiful, simply beautiful. And
the colors; reds, greens, blues and yellows- all merging in a feast
for the eyes. Glorious, simply glorious!
When I saw this
spiraled masterpiece, the word glory naturally came to the forefront
of my thinking and with it a chapter from the book of 1st
Corinthians…
1 Corinthians 15
( World English
Bible )
1Co 15:40, There
are also celestial bodies, and terrestrial bodies; but the glory of
the celestial differs from that of the terrestrial.
1Co 15:41, There is one glory of the sun, another glory of the
moon, and another glory of the stars; for one star differs from
another star in glory.
1Co 15:42, So also is the resurrection of the dead. It is sown
in corruption; it is raised in incorruption. (emphasis
added)
1Co 15:43, It is
sown in dishonor; it is raised in glory. It is sown in weakness; it
is raised in power.
1Co 15:44, It is
sown a natural body; it is raised a spiritual body. There is a
natural body and there is also a spiritual body.
1Co 15:45, So
also it is written, “The first man, Adam, became a living soul.”
The last Adam became a life-giving spirit.
The apostle Paul
links the glory of the celestial with the terrestrial and relates
this to the resurrection of the dead. Our mortal bodies will one day
be transformed into an incorruptible one; a spiritual one, which in a
small way will be a reflection of God Almighty, himself. After
thinking about this reflection, that beautiful glory window seems to
be as nothing. How wonderful, how beautiful heaven must be!
