"God bless America": Sung by Kate Smith

My good friend, Bruce Arnold sent me the above link today. Like so many of us, I had heard the song before, but never the complete version. The background information refers to the Second World War, but is appropriate today, as our nation is facing the threat of a takeover by Communism.
As explained in the song, it is really a prayer and if there is one thing this country needs it is PRAYER. The following passage of Scripture is appropriate and worth remembering!
1 Timothy 2 ( World English Bible )
1
I exhort therefore, first of all, that petitions, prayers,
intercessions, and givings of thanks, be made for all men:
2
for kings and all who are in high places; that we may lead a tranquil
and quiet life in all godliness and reverence.
3 For this is
good and acceptable in the sight of God our Savior;
4 who
desires all people to be saved and come to full knowledge of the
truth.
Isn't it interesting that this quote begins with an exhortation with a "first of all". This naturally begs the question: Is prayer really first in our life? I ask: If not - why not? Please, pray for our great nation; she desperately needs it!
