NOT my first choice...

We are all creatures of habit.  We tend to do the same things over and over and over and do it again.  For me, I get up, dress, take my medications, fix the coffee and sit down to the computer to do my blog.  Same thing, every day. But could you imagine turning on your computer and seeing this choice?  Tells you something, doesn't it?  Maybe, just maybe there is something wrong with the way I am living my life???  The things we do give us indications whether or not we are going down "the right road".  And so does this Psalm... check it out!!!

World English Bible: Psalms Chapter 1

[1] Blessed is the man who doesn’t walk in the counsel of the wicked,
nor stand in the way of sinners,
nor sit in the seat of scoffers;

[2] but his delight is in Yahweh’s law.
On his law he meditates day and night.

[3] He will be like a tree planted by the streams of water,
that brings forth its fruit in its season,
whose leaf also does not wither.
Whatever he does shall prosper.

[4] The wicked are not so,
but are like the chaff which the wind drives away.

[5] Therefore the wicked shall not stand in the judgment,
nor sinners in the congregation of the righteous.

[6] For Yahweh knows the way of the righteous,
but the way of the wicked shall perish.

One of the major problems today is our emphasis on technology (I can't believe I am saying this??).  Everything seems to point us to be more and more technologically oriented.  In and of itself, that is not a bad thing, but when it is done to the exclusion of morality, we wind up with riots in the streets.  Sound familiar; check out the news??  Religion (no, its not a bad word) points us to God's ways of doing things; to a way of life that results in inner happiness and outward blessings.  Its not easy street, but it IS one that pleases God and gives standards of thinking and action that promote ethics and lead to stability for both you and your family.  Without God, your life will lead to things that just please yourself and without concern for others, its very plausible to think your lifestyle could result in seeing something like the picture above.  The best thing I could possibly say to you this cold November morning would be to re-read the Psalm and THINK.  Who wouldn't want a better life?  Then again, its your choice!  Look out the window... is there a van outside; if so, its probably too late.  If not, read the passage again and think; you just might be very glad you did.
