From Gary.... From flakes to treasured companions

Friendship is a wonderful thing; life would be dreary indeed without friends.  What makes a friend, anyway?  Interests, common problems (or successes) other friends (by virtue of association), family, for starters.  I can only imagine that there are hundreds (at least) of reasons WHY someone is your friend.  For me, I like what Jesus has to say in this encounter with his disciples...

John, Chapter 15
13  Greater love has no one than this, that someone lay down his life for his friends.   14  You are my friends, if you do whatever I command you.   15  No longer do I call you servants, for the servant doesn’t know what his lord does. But I have called you friends, for everything that I heard from my Father, I have made known to you.

Jesus made the world and everything in it- and he is my friend!!! And he wants us to really care for others- and be THEIR FRIEND!!!  This isn't sappy friendship, but the genuine kind and most of all it is REAL!!!  For some reason, I have always especially liked the ending of 3rd John... it goes like this...

III John, verse 14
The friends greet you. Greet the friends by name.

Want to do something nice in this "holiday" season... try being a friend- you just might make one in the process!!!
