Hell by Gary Rose

Now, let me say first of all, that I do NOT enjoy thinking about hell. But, Jesus spoke about it, so it is a topic I must consider. Take a few moments and read some of the words of Jesus (listed below in Red)...

Luke, Chapter 16, (World English Bible)
19  “Now there was a certain rich man, and he was clothed in purple and fine linen, living in luxury every day.   20  A certain beggar, named Lazarus, was laid at his gate, full of sores,   21  and desiring to be fed with the crumbs that fell from the rich man’s table. Yes, even the dogs came and licked his sores.   22  The beggar died, and he was carried away by the angels to Abraham’s bosom. The rich man also died, and was buried.   23  In Hades, he lifted up his eyes, being in torment, and saw Abraham far off, and Lazarus at his bosom.   24  He cried and said, ‘Father Abraham, have mercy on me, and send Lazarus, that he may dip the tip of his finger in water, and cool my tongue! For I am in anguish in this flame.’

25  “But Abraham said, ‘Son, remember that you, in your lifetime, received your good things, and Lazarus, in the same way, bad things. But now here he is comforted and you are in anguish.   26  Besides all this, between us and you there is a great gulf fixed, that those who want to pass from here to you are not able, and that no one may cross over from there to us.’

27  “He said, ‘I ask you therefore, father, that you would send him to my father’s house;   28  for I have five brothers, that he may testify to them, so they won’t also come into this place of torment.’

29  “But Abraham said to him, ‘They have Moses and the prophets. Let them listen to them.’

30  “He said, ‘No, father Abraham, but if one goes to them from the dead, they will repent.’

31  “He said to him, ‘If they don’t listen to Moses and the prophets, neither will they be persuaded if one rises from the dead.’”

Some people will tell you that Hell is not real; they are wrong. The Bible plainly says it is, so listen to the testimony it gives:

Jesus  (more about Hell [Gehenna])

Matthew, Chapter 5 (WEB)
22  But I tell you, that everyone who is angry with his brother without a cause shall be in danger of the judgment; and whoever shall say to his brother, ‘Raca!’ shall be in danger of the council; and whoever shall say, ‘You fool!’ shall be in danger of the fire of Gehenna (aka, hell in the WEB).

29  If your right eye causes you to stumble, pluck it out and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.   30  If your right hand causes you to stumble, cut it off, and throw it away from you. For it is more profitable for you that one of your members should perish, than for your whole body to be cast into Gehenna.

Matthew, Chapter 23 (WEB)
33  You serpents, you offspring of vipers, how will you escape the judgment of Gehenna?

John The Baptist (speaking of Jesus)

Matthew, Chapter 3 (WEB)
10  “Even now the ax lies at the root of the trees. Therefore every tree that doesn’t produce good fruit is cut down, and cast into the fire.  11 I indeed baptize you in water for repentance, but he who comes after me is mightier than I, whose shoes I am not worthy to carry. He will baptize you in the Holy Spirit. 12 His winnowing fork is in his hand, and he will thoroughly cleanse his threshing floor. He will gather his wheat into the barn, but the chaff he will burn up with unquenchable fire.”

Paul

2 Thessalonians, Chapter 1 (WEB)
3  We are bound to always give thanks to God for you, brothers, even as it is appropriate, because your faith grows exceedingly, and the love of each and every one of you towards one another abounds;  4 so that we ourselves boast about you in the assemblies of God for your patience and faith in all your persecutions and in the afflictions which you endure.  5 This is an obvious sign of the righteous judgment of God, to the end that you may be counted worthy of the Kingdom of God, for which you also suffer.  6 Since it is a righteous thing with God to repay affliction to those who afflict you,  7 and to give relief to you who are afflicted with us, when the Lord Jesus is revealed from heaven with his mighty angels in flaming fire,  8 giving vengeance to those who don’t know God, and to those who don’t obey the Good News of our Lord Jesus,  9 who will pay the penalty: eternal destruction from the face of the Lord and from the glory of his might,  10 when he comes to be glorified in his saints, and to be admired among all those who have believed (because our testimony to you was believed) in that day.

Isaiah

Isaiah, Chapter 14 (WEB)
12  How you have fallen from heaven, morning star, son of the dawn! How you are cut down to the ground, who laid the nations low!  13 You said in your heart, “I will ascend into heaven! I will exalt my throne above the stars of God! I will sit on the mountain of assembly, in the far north!  14 I will ascend above the heights of the clouds! I will make myself like the Most High!”  15 Yet you shall be brought down to Sheol, to the depths of the pit.  16 Those who see you will stare at you. They will ponder you, saying, “Is this the man who made the earth to tremble, who shook kingdoms;  17 who made the world like a wilderness, and overthrew its cities; who didn’t release his prisoners to their home?”

Demons

Matthew, Chapter 8 (WEB)
28  When he came to the other side, into the country of the Gergesenes,  two people possessed by demons met him there, coming out of the tombs, exceedingly fierce, so that nobody could pass that way.  29 Behold, they cried out, saying, “What do we have to do with you, Jesus, Son of God? Have you come here to torment us before the time?”  30 Now there was a herd of many pigs feeding far away from them.  31 The demons begged him, saying, “If you cast us out, permit us to go away into the herd of pigs.”

Punishment, pain, torment, suffering happen in Gehenna (hell). So, who in their right mind would want to go there? Answer- NO ONE!

Because Jesus died to save us from that awful place. All we have to do believe in Jesus, repent, confess him as LORD, be baptized for the forgiveness of our sins and remain faithful until we die.

Why?

Because, NOTHING ON EARTH IS WORTH GOING TO HELL FOR

-that's why!!!!
