A city on the edge of forever...

Interesting structure!  I wonder what its purpose was?  Reminds me of one of the original Star Trek episodes.  You know, the one where a structure like this transported them back in time.  Time is an interesting concept. It starts off with our being regulated by it by our parents and gradually progresses throughout our lives to regiment us into tight little patterns of activity.  We accomplish more this way, but I wonder how good living in this manner really is?  Someday, God will explain it all to me, but in the meantime we have this passage from the book of Ecclesiastes to instruct us all...

World English Bible: Ecclesiastes Chapter 3

[1] For everything there is a season, and a time for every purpose under heaven:

[2] a time to be born,
and a time to die;

a time to plant,
and a time to pluck up that which is planted;

[3] a time to kill,
and a time to heal;

a time to break down,
and a time to build up;

[4] a time to weep,
and a time to laugh;

a time to mourn,
and a time to dance;

[5] a time to cast away stones,
and a time to gather stones together;

a time to embrace,
and a time to refrain from embracing;

[6] a time to seek,
and a time to lose;

a time to keep,
and a time to cast away;

[7] a time to tear,
and a time to sew;

a time to keep silence,
and a time to speak;

[8] a time to love,
and a time to hate;

a time for war,
and a time for peace.

There are patterns in our overall existence.  We are born, we grow up, then old and finally die.  But within that, there are other natural patterns, which Solomon refers to.  It is necessary for us to react to our life situation appropriately in order to survive.  Farmers MUST plant at a particular time in order to farm.  When a foreign army invades you MUST protect yourself or die and so forth.  To me, what is noticeably absent from this list is our relationship with God.  It is always the correct time to seek God!!!  That is, of course, if you have any intention of wanting to live forever.  If you don't care, then there will be a time to pay for that decision, later.  Whatever you decide to do with your life, be careful!!!  Remember, there is no portal to the past; what you have done is what you have done and the consequences of that are truly eternal.
