When I saw this on facebook this week I could easily relate to it. Anyone who balances a checkbook will understand it immediately! On either a national or personal level if you spend 50% more than you take in, financial disaster awaits. Why is this obscured by huge volumes of reports? Answer: to twist and distort the truth so that the "average" person will not understand how poorly we really are doing. Sound familiar?? See what the apostle Peter has to say...

[15] Regard the patience of our Lord as salvation; even as our beloved brother Paul also, according to the wisdom given to him, wrote to you; [16] as also in all of his letters, speaking in them of these things. In those, there are some things that are hard to understand, which the ignorant and unsettled twist, as they also do to the other Scriptures, to their own destruction. [17] You therefore, beloved, knowing these things beforehand, beware, lest being carried away with the error of the wicked, you fall from your own steadfastness.
Those with wrong motives having been doing this with the Scriptures from the beginning. Why? Because they can. The answer to both problems is understanding. Its true that most of us will never be a Certified Public Accountant, but we can understand the truth of our national finances when someone simplifies it like the picture. The Scriptures however, can be understood by virtually everyone. Just use the same rules that you would in comprehending any book and you will do just fine. Do not add to what it says or take away its words and you will be on firm footing. Oh, yes, don't let people tell you what it means, let the Bible do that for itself!!
