From contemplation to creation and beyond by Gary Rose

In three weeks everything seems to have changed. Our country has gone from boom to bust, almost everything is shut down, people are sick or dying by the thousands. The government is trying to help us with money, but as yet there is no cure for this virus. And the worst may be yet to come. All over this nation people have time to themselves; perhaps even more than they want or are able to handle.

Yet, amid all this there is hope. My late Grandmother Gladys used to say: “Sickness is God’s call to quietness”. And when people are still, oftentimes they begin to think and think some more.

Look up, the heavens are vast beyond imagination. Exactly, how do we fit into it? How does our planet, our country, our town, or for that matter even ourselves?

King David was a soldier a statesman, a man of power and most importantly, a man after God’s own heart. And that heart led him to create the following Psalm…

Psalm 8 ( World English Bible )
[1] For the Chief Musician; on an instrument of Gath. A Psalm by David.
Yahweh, our Lord, how majestic is your name in all the earth!
You have set your glory above the heavens!

[2] From the lips of babes and infants you have established strength,
because of your adversaries, that you might silence the enemy and the avenger.

[3] When I consider your heavens, the work of your fingers,
the moon and the stars, which you have ordained,

[4] what is man, that you think of him?
What is the son of man, that you care for him?

[5] For you have made him a little lower than the angels,
and crowned him with glory and honor.

[6] You make him ruler over the works of your hands.
You have put all things under his feet:

[7] All sheep and cattle,
yes, and the animals of the field,

[8] the birds of the sky, the fish of the sea,
and whatever passes through the paths of the seas.

[9] Yahweh, our Lord,
how majestic is your name in all the earth!

The thinking person will contemplate who he is and how he fits into the world around him. He will look at the world and ask: Where did this all come from and is there a design to it and if so, who designed it?

David, like so many others in the history of the world has sought out God from his observation of the world around him. That search ultimately leads to understanding the creator and his will for our lives.

And oh, yes… the picture reflects the process of discovery and thought and more thought until God is revealed to you. And the key to this is that little hard-to-read directive at the top right of the picture (which says – bottom left).

Take your time and THINK and eventually you will seek (through reading the Scriptures) and find HIM who created everything in the universe!
